Located in the heart of South Broadway, this is a cocktail-forward, French rustic restaurant with some of the best vibes in Denver with a heavy forest theme, incredible ambiance, and seriously cool restrooms. We stopped by in October, and I was impressed the moment I walked in. The vibe is on point, and the service was warm and welcoming. What we ordered: Baked Brie Frites Venison Tartine French Onion Soup Frog Legs Pomme Purée Stag Au Poivre Beef Bourguignon Crème Brûlée Beets & Goat Cheese (off the menu) Roasted Artichoke (off the menu) Traditional Pastis Service Yellow Rose La Foret Sun King Best bites: Their French onion soup might just be the best I've ever had - perfectly cheesy with rich veal broth. The beef bourguignon was tender, packed with flavor, and I could've licked the plate clean. The stag au poivre? Amazing and cooked to perfection. And baked brie... well, can you ever go wrong with baked brie? You can't! The pomme purée was so creamy and smooth, we ordered it twice . This is hands down one of the best French restaurants in the Denver. Don't miss out!
The atmosphere here is great and very romantic. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the cocktails and taking in the restaurant while we waited for our table at the bar. As an avid French food fan, I was excited to taste their take on classic dishes. I was taken aback by the size of the portions, they are relatively small for the prices, but I get it, it's Denver. Both of our dishes seemed overall salted (especially the chicken) but the flavor was fine overall. The wine was delicious and so was dessert. I was hoping for a little more full and whole flavor from each dish rather than an overtaking of a single flavor... if that makes sense. Overall, good place, slightly overpriced for the portions, but I'm a broke college student so what do I know
I received an email indicating they would be open on Sunday 12/22 for a limited menu when they would normally be closed. They still do not accept reservations, so FCFS. I arrived at 4pm and sat at a table in the front. I previously sat at the bar. The inside decor still incorporates the real Aspen trees when this space was Beatrice and Woolsey before the pandemic. I got a Stem Dry Cider with the Warm Delicata Squash. Perfect fall food choice on a bed of honey-goat cheese with brown butter & raddichio. My entree was the Duck a l'orange with a large side of Pomme Puree. The Duck was sliced with the usual layer of fat in an orange sauce. The Pomme (creamy potato) was loaded with butter and topped with chives. I was served by Michael J and asked him for recommendations for wine. He brought out 3 small pours of white & red French wines. I chose the 2018 Chateau Clos Junet St Emilion Grand Cru, their most expensive wine by the glass at $22. For dessert, I had the Tarte au Citron (lemon tart) with French press coffee. A great French inspired meal.
Very whimsical and cool vibe. Cocktails were off the hook! Beef Bourginon was a bit fatty but so so good. The stag (venison) was AMAZING as was the fennel salad. Friend had the chicken and ate every single bite. Riley was our wait person and took excellent care of us. We will DEFINITELY BE BACK
Went to La Forêt on a Friday night around 7 for apps and drinks, and let me tell you--it's popular. We waited about 1.5 hours for a table, but luckily, there's a bar nearby to kill time. Heads up: they give you a 10-minute grace period once your table's ready, so don't linger too long! When we finally got in, wow--what a cute spot! The inside is dreamy, like dining in a fairy forest with all the natural wood and greenery. Total escape from the city and suburbs. First thing I did was order a dirty martini with Family Jones vodka, and honestly, it might be the best one I've ever had. So smooth, so perfectly briny--just amazing. For food, we shared the Escargot au Champagne, Frites, and French Onion Soup. The French Onion Soup was a standout. I don't usually order it, but everyone said it was a must-try, and they weren't wrong. The broth was rich and flavorful--just chef's kiss. The Frites? Incredible. Perfectly crispy, lightly battered, and paired with a garlic aioli. It's supposed to have truffle zest, but if it did, I couldn't really taste it. Still, no complaints because those fries were so good. The escargot was good, but not my favorite. It came in a little pot instead of the usual shells, which was unexpected. The flavor was there, but it was really salty (due to the butter sauce), and the escargot itself was a bit chewy. What did steal the show, though, was the bread that came with it. Soaked in butter and toasted to perfection--it was heavenly. We wrapped up with the Chocolate Mousse, which was exactly what I wanted: not overly sweet, light, and just the right amount of indulgence. Overall, it's a great spot with amazing ambiance. The location is perfect if you want to keep the night going--lots of bars and spots to walk to. Parking's a bit tricky since it's street parking only, but that's to be expected in a busy area. Service was excellent, and I definitely want to come back to try the entrées.
One of my new favorite restaurants in Denver. We got a few things, but devoured them before I could even take a photo. Everything was unreal! The venison filet was cooked perfectly, the French onion soup was extra cheesy, and the mushrooms were soo flavorful. I want it again tonight and tomorrow and the day after. We sat at the bar and the service was great. Our server was kind and very knowledgeable about the menu! And of course have to mention the decor and vibe. So unique. Just the best everrr
Having Paris FOMO and wanting to relive our past trip to Paris, my daughter and I went to La Forêt for their Pastis Hour. The delicious Perroquet Vert reminded me of sitting at a café while looking at the construction of Notre Dame Cathedral. The interior looks like it dropped right out of a fairy tale. Appetizers were delightfully French (steamed artichoke, baked brie and truffle fries) and service was quick (albeit, there were only a handful of patrons when we were there). I really would like to go back and try the dinner menu...and especially the Paris Brest, which I have been longing for since leaving the city of lights!
Above and beyond. Wine and food perfectly paired. Ambience and decor were a perfect backdrop for the seasonal menu
This is THE place that I will definitely take my friends when they are visiting Denver! The vibe, the service and the food - a very unique experience. It took me a minute just to look around inside this cool restaurant, I took so many pictures and videos, couldn't stop staring at the interior design, also you should check out their sink by the bathroom - I've never seen anything like that before! But enough about that, let's talk about food! I felt like we tried all the new thing that we've never tried before - frog legs and the escargot! They do have an appetizer menu only from 4 pm till 5 pm, so I got fries and baked Brie - loved it! I also got the French onion soup and Beet salad - loved it even more! All fishes looked beautiful, our server was very sweet and helpful! A truly nice experience from the first second we stepped inside! P.S. no reservations needed, walk in only
